More trees!!

It rained yesterday and a little bit this morning.  Which made me think that the ground could be more on the softer side.  Digging holes for trees in a desert is a bit different than back in the rich black soil of Illinois, so any help I can get, I'll take advantage of it.

Armstrong's is now on my speed dial so I gave them a call.  I was in need of a good apple tree.  When I called, the man told me that a five gallon tree will produce fruit this year and will only cost $29.99!  That's way cheaper than the Valencia I bought last week.  Long story short, I walked over with my daughter and proceeded to tree shop.  In fact, we found two trees.  The other tree was a peach tree that is of the "Freestone" variety.  So after two quality fruit trees and a bag of compost soil, I was out of there for $67.65.  Not bad.

Noe and I quickly walked back to our Urban Sustainability Farm (I love saying that... ha ha ha) and planted the two trees.  We came up with very original nicknames for each other during the planting process.  She was "Farmer Noe", and I was "Farmer Daddy".  The trees don't seem to have much life right now, but there are tiny buds getting ready to blossom and that makes me very hopeful.

Later on that day, my son Hudson wanted to check out the new trees too.
